I’ve been looking to buy an electric shaver and trimmer for some time now. However, they are outrageously expensive at appliance stores in Manila. After checking online stores such as Amazon in the U.S. they were only a fraction of the prices here for the same or similar models. Even if I factored in the shipping from the U.S. to the Philippines it still comes out a lot cheaper.
I like to keep things tidy so I picked up a Philips Norelco BeardTrimmer 3100 (USD 19.95) and a Philips Norelco NoseTrimmer 3100 (USD 9.95) from Amazon. A similar model to the former is available here in the Philippines but it retails for Php 3,595. The latter doesn’t seem to be available in Manila. Both work as advertised and are excellent value shavers and trimmers.
Moving these electric shavers and trimmers from the U.S. to the Philippines usually takes a long time because most freight forwarders will only ship them via sea. With the special handling of Shipping Cart consumer electronics especially those with lithium-ion batteries can now be shipped via air. It’s very useful as many electric shavers and trimmers use rechargeable lithium-ion batteries.
I needed a few more items so I also picked up an Edwin Jagger Contemporary Chrome Plated Shaving Soap Bowl (USD 14.88) and a Clubman Pinaud Jumbo Styptic Pencil, 1 Oz (USD 4.12). I’ve been wanting to replace my old shaving bowl for the longest time and this was a great value. The Clubman Pinaud styptic pencil is great for quickly stopping bleeding caused by small nicks and cuts during shaving. It used to be sold at Ace Hardware but for some reason they are no longer available.
It’s worth noting that the Clubman Pinaud styptic pencil is sold by a third-party seller on Amazon and was shipped separately from the rest of my order. This can sometimes happen and can be quite costly as other freight forwarders do not consolidate items and will ship them as they arrive. With Shipping Cart I was able to consolidate all my items into one package saving me money in the process. Shipping all of these items via air came down to Php 1449.42.
