Last September, the same guys behind Back Alley Barbershop opened The Village Barber and Supply Shop in Bonifacio Global City. The new brand was designed for township developments popping up around the metro. In December of the same year they opened the second branch of The Village Barber and Supply Shop at The Grove by Rockwell.
The second branch follows the same look, feel and vibe as the first one. The floors are unfinished concrete while the grey walls are adorned by works of local artists. There are touches of wood and metal as well as exposed copper tubes. Warm lights, music played from vinyl records and an excellent selection of reading material complete the experience.
It’s been a month since I had my last hair cut so I decided to give one of their barbers a try. My usual hair cut is a tight fade on the sides, less volume on the back, a trim on the front with enough left for a pompadour and of course, a hard part. Rey was a bit hesitant to follow my instructions but after I showed him a few photos of my previous hair cuts he got almost everything right. I say almost because he’s not as good as my regular barber. But he definitely did a fantastic job given that he was cutting my hair for the first time.
Aside from the services there is a good selection of grooming products available. They carry products by Baxter of California, Byrd, Imperial Barber, J.S. Sloane and Blind Barber. Each service comes with your choice of hand pressed coffee or Asahi Super Dry.
If you live north of Metro Manila and find it a stretch to go to Makati or Bonifacio Global City for a great barber shop experience you can always pay a visit to The Village Barber and Supply Shop at The Grove.
